4711

4711 is a prestigious and traditional German Eau de Cologne company. The company has manufactured perfumes in the German city of Köln (also called Cologne) since at least 1799. This means that it has achieved a certain status that allows it to call itself Original Eau de Cologne (original fragrance from Cologne). The company's original perfume Echt Kölnisch Wasser has been manufactured with the same recipe for over 200 years. The original store where the company's products were sold in Cologne is today a very popular tourist attraction. The name 4711 comes from a house number. 4711 has during its 200 years achieved outstanding status in both the perfume world and the rest of the world. In the film Rocky Horror Picture Show, the character Frank 4711 is tattooed on his thigh.

The first perfume, 4711 Original Eau de Cologne, began to be manufactured in 1792, and is still produced today. The perfume smells of various citrus fruits, basil and moss. The perfume is described, like the majority of the perfumes from 4711, as unisex. 4711 has also in recent years launched a collection named 4711 Acqua Colonia, focusing on various specific fragrances. For example 4711 Acqua Colonia Blood Orange & Basil or 4711 Acqua Colonia Hazel & Tonka. The two perfumes thus contain only 2 notes, the first scents of blood orange and Basil and the latter of hazelnut and Tonka bean. All perfumes in the collection are unisex.
